Music therapy is recognized as a related service under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 2004).
Students may be eligible for music therapy services under IDEA, Part B.
Individualized ServicesWe assess and create individualized treatment plans through the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) that support the academic needs and growth of students with developmental disabilities, emotional or behavior concerns, and learning differences.
Music therapy has been shown to improve reading scores in fluency and comprehension, auditory processing, communication, and interpersonal skills, and to increase on-task behavior and emotional regulation. |
Engaging, Interactive GroupsInterventions include performance ensembles for students with differing abilities, group singing to improve word recognition and reading, instrumental ensembles to improve hand-eye and motor coordination, group songwriting and performance to increase group cohesion and improve school culture.
